DuPont and Honeywell present update at JSAE Meeting in Tokyo, Japan

Barbara Minor of DuPont and Mark Spatz of Honeywell gave an update on HFO-1234yf at the JSAE meeting on January 30, 2008.

DuPont and Honeywell have identified HFO-1234yf as the preferred option, which offers best balance of properties and performance:

  • Excellent environmental properties ODP=0, GWP=4
  • Comparable to R-134a for refrigeration properties
  • Acceptable stability and compatibility properties, etc.

Preliminary studies show potential to use in direct expansion MAC system.

DuPont and Honeywell pesent update at ASHRAE Meeting New York, New York

Barbara Minor of DuPont and Mark Spatz of Honeywell gave an update on next-generation mobile air-conditioning candidate, HFO-1234yf, at the ASHRAE meeting on January 23, 2008. Ms. Minor and Mr. Spatz reviewed properties of refrigerant along with testing and modeling results. An update of current industry cooperative research initiatives was also reviewed in this presentation. HFO-1234yf has been identified by both DuPont and Honeywell as the preferred candidate, which provides best balance of properties and performance for mobile air-conditioning applications. More information on HFO-1234yf will be presented at upcoming meetings.

2nd European Workshop on Mobile Air Conditioning and Auxiliaries

DuPont Refrigerants and Honeywell presented data on a new refrigerant candidate for Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) at the 2nd European Workshop on Mobile Air Conditioning and Auxiliaries, November 29th, 2007 in Torino, Italy. The new candidate, HFO-1234yf, is currently being evaluated by automotive manufacturers. Preliminary data suggests that HFO-1234yf has the potential to deliver the best balance of properties and performance, versus existing candidates, such as CO2 (R744) and HFC-152a, in MAC systems globally.
